POWELL Real Estate began in 2002 as an idea that, with heartfelt determination and a lot of hard work has impacted many people we care about in real tangible ways. Toby POWELL, himself a homebuilder and real estate broker of more than fifty years, was Rodney’s father and his mentor through the early years. Having long-established relationships with other homebuilders and land developers, Rodney identified an opportunity to help property owners with residential lots, for which resales can be challenging. By 2005, the Houston Business Journal reported Rodney as the #3 Top Real Estate Individual ranked by number of closed transactions. Again, in 2007, he ranked #9 in closed transactions among nearly 25,000 members of the Houston Association of Realtors [HAR].

Rodney has a background in information technology consulting, developing custom spreadsheet-based financial and engineering applications — including acquisition and new development models for commercial real estate clients. On the basis of industry contributions for over a decade, Rodney has been acknowledged as a Microsoft MVP – Excel.

In response to to the shifting real estate market, Rodney developed software for appraising single-family residential properties. He makes use of this technology and his industry expertise by providing ad valorem tax analysis and representing property owners at Harris County [HCAD] and Montgomery County [MCAD] appraisal district and appraisal review board hearings.
